The brief was unusually candid. Juxtapose wrote: "Juxtapose is churning out businesses, and we want to enlist your team to help with the design and development of a landing page for our latest, Aperture." There was no site design, no finished copy, and only what they called a sacrificial brand: colours, motifs and typefaces good enough to launch with and meant to be replaced later.
That is a normal situation for a venture studio and an awkward one for an agency. There is nothing to implement yet, the content arrives while design is running, and the whole thing still has to look like a real company on launch day.
Strategy
We answered the brief with a process rather than a price. Outline the sections first. Design in Figma and review, about a week. Build in Webflow, three to four days. Publish on a twenty-minute call with whoever controls the DNS. On that basis, with content ready, the page could launch in about two weeks.
Setting the sequence out in writing on day two is what let the client work in parallel. They wrote and sourced photography while we designed, instead of waiting for a finished brief that would never have arrived in time.
Design
Nine days after the brief we sent two concepts with a recorded walkthrough video explaining the thinking behind each. The Juxtapose team happened to be together in person that day and reviewed it as a group. They chose the illustration-led concept with the orange type.
One detail worth naming: the typeface we wanted was a paid font costing 60 dollars for the two weights in use. We flagged it before using it and passed it through at cost rather than quietly substituting something free or quietly absorbing it. Small thing, but it is how the licensing question should be handled.
Development and QA
The page was built in Webflow with the client's own sourced photography dropped in as it arrived. We completed quality assurance on 8 April 2025, three weeks after the initial brief, and handed over.
